Olympics Trials

This week marks the start of USA Swimming’s Olympic Trials, the fastest meet in the USA, held every four years. The Trials, taking place in Omaha, Nebraska, feature around 1,000 swimmers who qualified over the past two years. Competitors range in age from 13 to 46, with 139 athletes being 13-17 years old. Many of these elite swimmers began their journeys in neighborhood swim programs

This year, we have two swimmers locally and personally connected at Trials. Sloane Reinstein, taking a 5th year of eligibility at the University of Georgia, swam for Coach Jason as an age grouper before moving away for high school. She was a late bloomer who started at the West U Summer League and swam club at RICE before swimming for PASA.

HTX Swims founder Michael Nordmann’s daughter is also competing in her second trials and placed 9th in the 100 fly this morning. She is currently swimming at Stanford. All four of Michael’s daughters have swum or are swimming in college (Stanford 2x, Northwestern, and Northeastern), all starting in neighborhood teams and with TWST and MAC in the Gulf.

The next two months are an exciting time for swimming, where our swimmers can dream big! If your swimmers have some downtime, here’s how they can watch: Tune into Peacock for live coverage of the heats. Delayed coverage will also air on USA Network. Every event final will be broadcast live on NBC and streamed on Peacock nightly, starting at 8 p.m. ET.

See you at the pool,

HTX Swims
